1. When does the Conservation Commission meet?

The Commission meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month.

2. Who needs to file with the Conservation Commission?

Anyone who wishes to perform work in or near a wetland area, river, stream, pond, dune, coastal bank, or beach, or within the flood zone.

3. Do I need an engineer or surveyor?

Depending on the project; you may need to consult with a registered engineer or surveyor. The Conservation Administrator can help you determine whether or not consultant services are necessary or required.

4. How long does it take to go through the permitting process?

Usually about a month, if everything is clear and understood. In some cases, it could be as short as two weeks.

5. Is there a penalty for not going along with the Conservation Commission's policies?

Yes. Fines may be imposed, and court action might be involved. After the fact filings could require engineered plans and other information requiring professional studies.

6. What's the best way to find out specific information about my lot , or whether my plans need Conservation Commission review?

Visit the Conservation Commission office, or make an appointment with the Conservation Administrator.
