Raffle Permits
Certain organizations can hold Raffles, under M.G.L.c.271,s.7A only a veterans, church or religious, fraternal or fraternal benefit society, educational or charitable, civic or service club, or other club or organization operated exclusively for nonprofit purposes may hold a raffle.- If you are a for-profit entity you cannot hold a raffle
- If you are an individual, you cannot hold a raffle
The organization must be organized and actively functioning as a nonprofit in Massachusetts for at least two years in order to hold a raffle.
The Town Clerk's office will be happy to assist you with a raffle permit.
Taxi Permits
The fee for each Taxi Permit is sixty-five ($65) dollars, which amount shall include the processing fee, and shall be paid for new permits and their annual renewals.
Except as otherwise provided by law, no person shall engage in the business of transporting persons for hire in a vehicle, by virtue of originating a trip, within the Town of Yarmouth, without first having obtained a Permit from the Selectmen, authorizing him to engage in such business and designating the number of vehicles that may be used under such permit, and licensing all drivers under such permit.
The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Yarmouth shall determine the number of Permits to be issued. Such determination shall be made based upon serving the public need and convenience and based upon the promotion of public health and safety.
