This on-going Town of Yarmouth project provides a shared use path on the east side of Higgins Crowell Road, in West Yarmouth. The new path will provide vital connections to the proposed Cape Cod Rail Trail (CCRT) Phase III, Town recreation bike trails (to be upgraded during the CCRT Phase III Project) and sidewalks, two public schools and Town of Yarmouth Sandy Pond Recreation area. The proposed path will be approximately 10-feet wide, have an asphalt surface, and extend 7,700 linear feet from the Higgins Crowell roundabout to Buck Island Road. The figure below shows the new path and the connecting sidewalk and trail networks.
Phase 1 of the project was completed in 2021 (see photo). Phase 2 will be completed in the Spring and Summer of 2023, and Phase 3 will be bid in the Fall of 2023 with construction planned for 2024. Phases 1 through 3 are shown in the plan view below. Funding assistance is being provided by MassTrails.
