The West Yarmouth Library Association was incorporated February 4, 1891. The purpose was to establish and maintain a library. Dues were fifty cents a year and it was to be opened every Saturday afternoon.
The West Yarmouth Library Association is now a group of “Friends of the Library” whose mission is to raise funds to provide materials and programs not covered in the library’s operating budget. It conducts an annual fund drive, encourages gifts and other support for the library and administers funds already left in trust. The West Yarmouth Library is able to provide craft programs, summer reading programs, Yarmouth Reads with the support of the West Yarmouth Library Association. In addition, the Association funds museum passes, library furniture, Volunteer Appreciation Day, and co-sponsors, with South Yarmouth Library Association, the Who-ville Express. Regular fundraising projects include the Book Sale Shelf in the library and the outdoor summer book and craft sale.
All residents and visitors to Yarmouth are invited to join the Association and help the West Yarmouth Library continue to enrich the community. Please ask about the annual appeal to get on our mailing list.
The Association is governed by a Board of Trustees which functions as the Officers of the Association. The Board meets monthly to conduct the business of the Association.
