Yarmouth Town Libraries brings you a One Book, One Town community read for 2017. On Sunday, January 29, join us at the Cultural Center to hear a little about the novel written by Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer, and learn about the German Occupation of Guernsey Island in the English Channel during World War II. Books will be available for purchase ($10 for adults and $5 for students) and the Library will have extra copies available through interlibrary loan. Refreshments and Yarmouth Reads 2017 programs funded by the South Yarmouth and West Yarmouth Library Associations.
Sock Drive for Yarmouth Reads
As part of our Yarmouth Reads 2017 we are coordinating a sock drive. Bring in a new pair of socks – any size – to either the South or West Yarmouth Library and a volunteer will distribute them as needed from February through April this year. A great community project!

Knitting with a Purpose

Friday, February 3, at 9:00 a.m.
Alice Bowen of South Yarmouth will host a regular knitting group, starting with a planning meeting on Friday, February 3, at 9:00 a.m., at the South Yarmouth Library, (please ring the main entrance doorbell to be admitted.) She has two lovely patterns of Guernsey sweaters to share: the Guilford and the Fisherlad, in sizes from Children’s size 1 to Women’s or Men’s sizes 34-50. At the planning meeting, we’ll decide when to meet on a regular basis to make a Guernsey sweater. Hope you can join us!
Ever Consider being a Foster Parent?

Learn what it takes to be a foster parent on Cape Cod.
Tony Brownstein, from the Massachusetts Department of Children & Family, and foster parent Marjorie Vespa will answer all your questions. You may be single, married, partnered, widowed or divorce and can be a great foster parent. Average stay 3-18 months. Foster parents must be at least 18 years of age.
Cecelia Siemen Scholarship in the Visual Arts
The South Yarmouth Library Association offers the Cecelia Siemen Scholarship in the Visual Arts annually. The $3,000 award advances the study and knowledge of someone in the visual arts. To be eligible, applicants must have completed one academic year at a college or art institute by the end of the school year in which the scholarship is offered.
Applications are available now from the South Yarmouth Library or from the website. Applications include the completed form, course work transcripts, three (3) letters of recommendation, your portfolio, and a personal statement.
