Welcome to the Yarmouth Town Libraries Teacher Resource Page. We are committed to providing ongoing support to parents, teachers, caregivers and homeschooling families. Our collection, located in the Children's Department at the South Yarmouth and West Yarmouth locations, includes books, e-books, videos, CDROMS, Educational Resources, magazines, online databases and Parent and Teacher collections.
To better serve the educational community, the Children’s Department offers the following resources and many services to teachers.

Institution (Teacher ) Card


Persons teaching at public, private or home based schools within Massachusetts are eligible for an "Institution (Teacher) Card" to be used for curriculum-related materials. Materials checked out on this type of card may be lent out for 30 days.


Institution Card Borrowing Guidelines
Card will be issued with proper verification (i.e. pay stub, school ID, note on business letterhead from principal or director).

Card is valid for 1 year running from August 1 to July 31 the following year, (i.e. August 1, 2011 - July 31, 2012), verification necessary for updating.

Patron must have an Adult CLAMS card before an Institution Card can be issued. Institution Cards will be issued as a separate card from Adult CLAMS card.

50 items per card

30 day loan period (No renewals)

Videos will have normal loan rules of 7 days

Materials borrowed are for use in the classroom or approved organizational use

Use Adult Card for borrowing personal materials

Lost materials are the responsibility of the card holder

YTL Institution Cards will be honored at the two Yarmouth Town Libraries. Borrowing guidelines may vary at each CLAMS library. Be sure to ask for more information about loan periods, fines, reserves, etc.

Tours and Visits to the Library


If your class would like to visit the South or West Yarmouth Library please contact us at 508-760-4820 ext. 1316 . We offer this service on an appointment basis. We also offer story times for preschool groups. We offer this service on Wednesday mornings on an appointment basis.

Assignment Alerts


The Yarmouth Town Library is dedicated to building partnerships with local schools by providing teachers and students with learning materials they need to complete vital school assignments. It's always helpful if we have advanced notice of assignments. Click here to submit an Assignment Alert. By providing us with this information we can help support your ongoing projects and assignments by pulling and featuring books and resources for your students.

These kits as well as over 170 other Educational Resource Kits can be borrowed from the South Yarmouth Library. Kits must be checked, counted and singed for upon check-out.

http://www.pbs.org/teachers - PBS Teachers is a comprehensive Pre-K through 12 educator site. It includes thousands of free lesson plans, local and national educator resources, teacher professional development, videos, blogs, and more.

http://dsc.discovery.com/ - The Discovery Channel online is a wonderful tool that many homeschool families use in order to teach children about all aspects of their world. Inquiring minds can take interactive virtual tours of many different places, and even discover dinosaurs through one! Many news and science topics are detailed on this particular website as well. Children can even learn very important survival skills by playing games such as “Life or Death: In the Jungle”, “Man vs. Wild”, “Life or Death: Snow Survival”.

www.donnayoung.org - This website is a place on the internet from where you may print homeschool planners, household planners, Calendars, handwriting lessons, printable worksheets or papers for several subjects.

http://www.dltk-kids.com/ - DLTK's Crafts for Kids features a variety of fun, printable children's crafts, coloring pages and more including projects for holidays, educational themes and some of our children's favorite cartoon characters.

Explore Our Online Resources


We provide access to a number of online databases not found on the "free Internet." Sources include full text newspapers, magazines, maps, language learning and so much more. Funding for the databases is provided by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC), Massachusetts Library System (MLS) and the Yarmouth Town Libraries.
